Forensic Video Services

Different from Legal Video, forensic video refers to examination, analysis, enhancement  and testifying as to authenticity of video offered as evidence within the court system. It could include such items as autopsy video, crime and incident scene surveys, security and surveillance video processing, 3D incident reconstruction, emulation or simulation, or photometric analysis.

As a retired certified computer forensic specialist, I have merged my knowledge and skills in preserving, analyzing, documenting and testifying about electronic evidence with my video editing computer skills.

Introduction to Surveillance Video - This 90 second clip introduces through narration the video scene relating to a confrontation that was recorded by two cameras in a commercial establishment. The time frame examined was approximately 7 minutes, with detailed narrative and editing on about a 1 minute period of time.

The video makes extensive use of circles and arrows identifying relevant specifics that help in understanding the scene and the detail that the viewers will soon be seeing.

This video was used in pre-trial and as evidence during the trial.  The full video presentation was about 20 minutes and involved detailed examination of the 1 minute footage. The trial presentation included both the video and testimony as to the examination process as well as detailed description and explanation of the footage, including movement and identification of certain participants.

Enhancing Surveillance Video - This 2 minute clip summarizes the process of enhancing , matching and combining footage from two surveillance video cameras, including adding and syncing time codes.

This clip was part of the 20 minute video that was presented to defense and prosecution teams prior to and during trial.  By explaining the examination  process within the video, all sides were able to ingest the process used in examining the surveillance footage and assisted in evidence introduction during trial.
